KUCHING: The dinner event in conjunction with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Convention 2026 on Sunday took on a light-hearted and lively mood when Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg stole the spotlight with an impromptu ride on an electric scooter.

Despite spending the entire day attending and following proceedings of the convention, he still took time to interact with the guests, reflecting his warm personality and close rapport with the public.

He was seen riding the electric scooter around the VIP seating area, drawing smiles from fellow dignitaries and guests who were delighted by the spontaneous moment.

Earlier, the Premier had taken an interest in the scooter being used by convention staff, which also happened to be the grand prize for the evening’s lucky draw.

Curious to have a closer look, he rose from his seat before deciding to give the scooter a try himself, adding to the relaxed and cheerful atmosphere of the dinner.

After the light-hearted moment, he returned to enjoy the evening’s dinner before departing the event with other distinguished guests.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) President Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) President Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, as well as other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
