Malaysia Technology Expo 2026: NREB Sarawak Wins Three Awards
KUALA LUMPUR: The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak attained a notable milestone by receiving three awards at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2026 which took place at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from 9 to 11 April.
The awards included the Petrosains Special Award, a Silver Award under the Public Service Innovation Asia (PSIA) Award 2026 in recognition of the Greenhouse Gas Management System (GHG-MS) as well as a Bronze Award for the PALS Club (Kelab Pencinta Alam Sekitar) initiative.
The Petrosains Special Award and Bronze Award were conferred upon the PALS Club innovation, which focuses on strengthening environmental education through digital data management and interactive engagement.
Sarawak Controller of Environmental Quality, Datu Jack Liam said that participation in MTE 2026 marked NREB’s first involvement in the prestigious event.
He added two teams namely Enviro Warrior and PALS Ranger were sent to gain exposure with intentions to broaden participation to encompass more teams and projects in the future.
He further stated that NREB aspires to attain wider recognition at the state, national and international levels while reinforcing a culture of innovation and creativity within the organisation.
He further underscored the importance of utilising emerging technologies to improve service delivery including the refinement of work processes and the enhancement of standard operating procedures to better fulfil stakeholders’ expectations.
The award presentation was officiated by Awards Chair and President of the Malaysia Association of Creativity and Innovation (MACRI) Hussein Mohd Ariff while NREB Sarawak was represented by Deputy Controller (Operations) ChM Penny Sumok. -UKASnews
