Sarawak Cultural Night Enlivens Sarawakku Sayang Programme In Miri
MIRI: More than 2,000 visitors enlivened the Sarawak Cultural Night, held in conjunction with the Sarawakku Sayang Programme at the Main Tent of Miri Stadium on Friday night.
The programme, which took place in a vibrant and colourful atmosphere, highlighted the diverse arts and culture of the state's community through performances of dance, music, and song.
The evening was graced by the presence of the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, who is also the Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Also present were the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism) and Piasau Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, as well as the Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration), Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, and Miri Division Deputy Resident Bujang Rahman Seli, along with several other dignitaries.
The event commenced with an opening performance themed “Sarawakku Sayang” before proceeding with various cultural performances from local associations and arts groups in Miri.
Among them were the Warrior Dance by the Damanai Kuwai Group, the Kedayan Dance by the Miri Kedayan Group, and the Penan Dance by the Sarawak Tipun Penan Development Association, while the performances were further graced by an appearance from the Jatti Miriek Miri, showcasing local ethnic identity.
In addition, the stage was further enlivened by vocal performances from local artists such as Vior Eagle Crown, Menoah, and Phoebe, who successfully captivated the audience's attention.
The programme continued with a dance performance by the Miri Orang Ulu Women's Association, who performed the Datun Julut dance, followed by an Iban dance by 1 Beat Studio and a Chinese dance by the Arabesque Academy of Dance Miri.
The atmosphere grew even more lively with vocal performances from Raquel Then and Mawat, before the event concluded with a 'bermukun' performance by the D’E Bayu group and Culture Dance Miri, which received a warm reception from the audience. -UKASnews
