KUCHING: Unity continues to be the common denominator in Sarawak's progress today which continues to emphasise social inclusion under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the Sarawak Government has spent approximately RM685 million as part of continuous efforts to maintain the harmony of the multi-religious community in the state.
"As you know, so far we have spent about RM685 million, with RM560 million channeled to hundreds of houses of worship for other religions.
"Meanwhile about RM120 million has been allocated for the continued development of missionary schools throughout Sarawak," he said when officiating the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) Complex at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee, here, on Sunday.
Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari added that the construction of the UNIFOR Complex also reflects Sarawak's commitment to maintaining harmony between various religions and races in the state.
Furthermore, he highlighted UNIFOR’s role as a meeting point for the diversity of religions for mutual respect, which brings about a unique cooperation in Malaysia.
He explained that differences of opinion and problems will exist among the multi-racial community, but solutions must be found.
