Borneo Sarawak Health Tour Focuses On Enhancing Facilities and Services in Mukah
MUKAH: The Borneo Sarawak Health Tour (Series 2) focuses on efforts to strengthen facilities and improve the quality of healthcare services in rural areas, particularly in Mukah.
Deputy Health Minister Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib continued the series of visits by personally observing the actual state of healthcare services on the ground on Monday.
The visit commenced at the Mukah Community Clinic to observe its daily operations as well as the standard of services provided to the local residents.
The delegation subsequently attended a briefing session at the Mukah Divisional Health Office whereas the current situation including key challenges and needs in the area was presented.
The visit then continued to the Mukah Maternal and Child Health Clinic (KKIA) to assess facilities and services for mothers and children, before proceeding to the Mukah Dental Clinic to review oral healthcare services for the community.
The Emergency Unit of Mukah Hospital was the final stop of the visit, highlighting its vital role in managing critical cases.
Throughout the tour, focus was also given to issues of manpower shortages and the need for operational support including the role of hospital drivers in ensuring the smooth movement of patients and the handling of emergency cases.
In addition, the need to strengthen clinical support services was also addressed to ensure that more comprehensive and effective treatment can be provided to the people.
Overall, the visit indicated that there is still room for improvement in terms of manpower, facilities and logistical support to enhance the efficiency of healthcare services in Mukah.
In the meantime, Dato Hanifah emphasised that all parties must act promptly and more proactively in addressing all identified issues to ensure that healthcare services continue to be maintained at a high standard.
Also present during the tour were Senior Division Secretary, Development Division of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) Datin Paduka Roslinah Md Jani, Deputy State Health Director (Public Health) Dr Mohammad Nazarudin Bahari, Mukah Division Health Officer Dr Mohammad Najib Hasan @ Ahmad, Administrative Officer of the Mukah Division Resident Office Mohd Amirul Valentine Laiseh and Mukah District Officer Peleadzman Ahip. -UKASnews
