Delayed RTP Projects Require All Parties To Sit Down Together For Solutions
SRI AMAN: Development projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) that have failed to be completed on schedule must be addressed promptly through joint discussions involving all relevant parties in order to arrive at a comprehensive solution.
The Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, stressed that failure to do so could result in projects being stalled and classified as ‘sick projects’, thereby affecting the benefits intended for the public.
According to him, a sit-down approach is crucial to ensure that every agency and contractor fully understands the actual issues at hand, rather than merely waiting without taking action.
“Problematic projects must be brought to the negotiating table so that all parties are aware of the real constraints and can work towards a thorough resolution.
“Contractors must also fully understand the scope and specifications of a project before participating in the tender process to ensure smooth implementation through to completion,” he said.
He said this during a recent visit to RTP project sites in Sungai Reboh, Ijok and Entebar here.
Meanwhile, he, who is also the Simanggang State Assemblyman, emphasised the importance of cooperation and consensus among all parties to ensure projects are completed on schedule or earlier.
He noted that this aspect is vital to ensure the public can enjoy the facilities provided by the government without any delay.
Earlier, he officiated the handover of project sites for the upgrading of cemetery access roads in Kampung Sungai Reboh and Kampung Ijok, involving a total cost of RM300,000, which is expected to be completed within four months.
In addition, he also handed over the site for a repair project at the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Activity Centre in Entebar, valued at RM100,000 and scheduled for completion within three months. -UKASnews
