i-CATS Seals Strategic Partnership To Advance Digital Trust Agenda
KUCHING: i-CATS University College has strengthened its role in Sarawak’s digital transformation agenda through the sealing of a strategic partnership with Purple Door (M) Sdn Bhd during PROTECT Sarawak 2026.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the event designates i-CATS as a National Strategic Academic Partner, reflecting the institution’s commitment to advancing digital trust, enhancing data governance and developing future talent to support the state’s digital economy aspirations.
i-CATS Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Professor Dato’ Dr Shazali Abu Mansor said the collaboration serves as a strategic catalyst in translating vision into broader impact.
According to him, the collaboration between academia and industry will accelerate talent development, expand knowledge sharing, and contribute to policy formation and innovation in data governance.
The exchange of MoU was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg in conjunction with the official closing ceremony of PROTECT Sarawak 2026 on Wednesday, which also featured a keynote address and the participation of various stakeholders from the government, industry and academic sectors.
Through this collaboration, i-CATS will be involved in various high-impact platforms including international conferences, masterclasses, workshops and policy dialogues, while also contributing to talent development and the strengthening of the innovation ecosystem.
The partnership is also aligned with the aspirations of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, in an effort to strengthen Sarawak's position as a progressive digital economy and innovation hub in the region. -UKASnews
