Tanjung Manis-Sarikei Bridge Drives Local Economic Growth
SARIKEI: Construction of the Tanjung Manis–Sarikei Bridge, which was completed last year, has now become a major catalyst for local economic growth by improving market access, stimulating business activities, and opening up more income opportunities for residents.
Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii said the strategic infrastructure project has had a significant impact on the area's development by improving connectivity as well as attracting investors and visitors.
The Sarikei Member of Parliament said this while attending a meet-and-greet session with the local community in conjunction with the Dragon Boat Festival celebration organised by the Kwong Wai Siew Association at Jalan Kwong Ming/Minah on Sunday.
According to him, the implementation of the high-impact project reflects the Sarawak Government's ongoing commitment to strengthening rural development through the provision of sustainable and competitive infrastructure.
The Repok Assemblyman added that infrastructure development not only improves the people’s quality of life but also accelerates overall local economic growth.
At the same time, he described the role of community organisations like the Kwong Wai Siew Association as vital in strengthening unity and serving as a bridge between the people and the government.
"Associations play a vital role in uniting the community and acting as a bridge between the people and the government," he said.
At the event, he also presented a contribution of RM10,000 to the Kwong Wai Siew Association in support of their community activities.
The event, attended by about 500 people, reflects the close cooperation between leaders and the community in supporting the development agenda and strengthening local community unity. -UKASnews
