JobSarawak Launched, Providing Real-Time Labour Market Data
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government has launched the digital platform JobSarawak as a measure to strengthen the job matching system and provide real-time labour market data, in line with current economic needs and the state's economic transition agenda.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the platform was developed following a significant increase in job opportunities and vacancies resulting from Sarawak's current economic growth.
According to him, the Immigration and Labour Management Unit (ILMU) has also successfully developed a dashboard that provides a more comprehensive overview of the employment situation and workforce requirements according to the fields needed by employers in Sarawak.
“We require various expertise. As mentioned earlier, workers who have undergone upskilling, including those in PhD fields, economics, or high-skilled jobs.
“I believe that for our 2030 targets and beyond—as we are in an economic transition, including aerospace employment which we are currently studying, as well as the chip industry—this will certainly create skilled jobs in those sectors,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the Sarawak State Level Labour Day 2026 Celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here on Sunday.
Commenting further, he said the approach through JobSarawak is far more comprehensive than previous systems because it is capable of providing more accurate data required in efforts to create job opportunities aligned with Sarawak's economic transition mission.
He added that this integrated system also strengthens the relationship between the government and employers, while making it easier for Sarawakians to access vacancy information and apply for jobs directly through the platform.
