16 Units Under Sarawak Premier’s Department Now Implement MS ISO 9001:2015
KUCHING: The Sarawak Premier’s Department continues to strengthen its culture of quality work and high-performance service delivery, with 16 units under the department now implementing the Quality Management System (QMS) based on the MS ISO 9001:2015 standard.
The implementation of the international standard reflects the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing organisational governance that is more systematic, efficient, integrity-driven and customer-focused, in line with the state public service transformation agenda.
Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation) Datu Hii Chang Kee said the initiative marked a significant achievement, as it was the first time all units within the Sarawak Premier’s Department had moved towards comprehensive ISO certification.
“Tonight, we are also presenting the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Manual to the units under the Sarawak Premier’s Department as a manifestation of our continued commitment to strengthening the quality management system and enhancing service delivery standards.
“For the first time, all units within the Sarawak Premier’s Department have worked towards implementation so that we can achieve ISO 9001 certification,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the Mini Innovative and Creative Circle (ICC) Convention Awards Ceremony 2026 for the Sarawak Premier’s Department held at the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) Complex here on Saturday.
Datu Hii added that the certification not only demonstrated the department’s commitment to delivering quality services, but also ensured that every standard operating procedure (SOP) was implemented according to recognised and internationally accepted standards.
He said ISO recognition also added value to the image and credibility of the department and government agencies in the eyes of the public and external stakeholders.
The initiative also ensures that every work process is carried out in a planned and documented manner, with continuous monitoring and improvement to enhance the effectiveness of service delivery to the people and stakeholders.
In addition, the implementation of the system places emphasis on risk management, compliance with work procedures, strengthening internal controls, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation.
The ongoing effort is in line with the Sarawak Government’s aspiration to cultivate organisational excellence and strengthen the capability of a responsive, dynamic and competitive public service in facing future challenges. -UKASnews
