Laws & Procedures Must Align With Technological & AI Advancements
KUCHING: Existing laws, regulations and procedures must be reviewed and adapted in line with the rapid advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to support administrative transformation and current development needs in Sarawak.
Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said such measures are essential to ensure the government’s administrative system remains relevant, efficient and capable of meeting the demands brought about by technological change.
“In a world driven by digital technology and AI, existing laws, regulations and procedures must also be reviewed and refined to ensure they are able to support present-day development requirements,” he said.
He said this during his opening speech at the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN), here on Monday.
According to Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi, good, efficient and systematic governance forms a crucial foundation in ensuring the effective implementation of policies and the state’s development agenda.
He added that public service delivery systems as well as government procurement mechanisms must continue to be enhanced to become more efficient, responsive and aligned with current development demands.
At the same time, he stressed that the commitment of civil servants at every level remains a key factor in ensuring all government policies and initiatives are implemented effectively and comprehensively.
“I call upon all state civil servants to consistently uphold a high sense of responsibility, act more swiftly and proactively, while embracing a stronger sense of urgency and sense of ownership in ensuring the government’s development agenda is implemented according to plan and achieves the targets that have been set,” he said.
