KUCHING: The Sarawak Government continues to express its appreciation for the services and sacrifices of frontline workers through the distribution of 11,900 food packs to 11 uniformed agencies in conjunction with the 2026 Gawai Dayak celebration.
Among the security and enforcement agencies that received the Sumbangsih Gawai contributions are the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM), and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM).
Other recipients include the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Malaysia Prisons Department (JPM), the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), the People's Volunteer Corps (RELA), and the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS).
Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that each food pack contains six types of products, including ready-to-eat meals, kuih deram, nuts, kolok noodles, as well as three-in-one coffee and tea beverages.
“We hope that the packs shared with security personnel and uniformed bodies during the festive season will achieve the noble aspirations of the Sarawak Government.
“The Sumbangsih Chinese New Year, Sumbangsih Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and Sumbangsih Gawai contribution packs are also hoped to ignite the spirit to continue serving to ensure Sarawak’s sovereignty, and that Sarawak remains safe, secure, prosperous, and peaceful,” she said.
She said this while speaking at the symbolic presentation ceremony for the 2026 Sumbangsih Gawai Dayak at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here on Thursday.
Elaborating further, she mentioned that the total number of food packs provided for all three contribution programmes this year is 35,700 packs. — UKASnews
