MCSS Phase 2 Worth RM450 Million To Be Tendered In Q2 2026
KUCHING: The Miri Centralised Sewerage System (MCSS) Phase 2 project, valued at RM450 million, is scheduled to be tendered in the second quarter of 2026.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian said the project design has been fully completed and is currently in the final stages of tender documentation.
According to the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, the Kuching Centralised Sewerage System (KCSS) Package 2 project, worth RM750 million, has now achieved 92.4 per cent progress and is expected to be completed by August 2026.
He noted that this progress figure was revised from the previous 99.7 per cent following the inclusion of additional critical property connection works towards the final stage of project implementation.
“For the KCSS Zone 1 Package 3 project valued at RM382 million, the detailed design stage has currently reached 85 per cent completion,” he said.
He said this during his ministerial winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly sitting on Tuesday.
Datuk Amar Dr Sim also informed that the Kota Samarahan Centralised Sewerage System Phase 1 project, worth RM650 million, is currently at the preliminary design stage.
According to him, the Value Assessment Lab for the project is scheduled to be held in June 2026, while the work tender is expected to be called in 2027.
In a related development, he shared that the Federal Government loan agreement for the sewerage system rationalisation project of the North-South catchment area in Bintulu, valued at RM225 million, has been finalised and is currently at the consultant procurement stage.
In addition, the Federal Government has also approved an application for a sewage treatment system upgrading project at Uma Bakah, Sungai Asap worth RM4.4 million.
He added that the project will commence as soon as the loan agreement is finalised. -UKASnews
