Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Engages Sarawakian Community In Hungary, Stresses Importance Of Global Talent
HUNGARY: Sarawakians living, studying and working abroad have an important role to play in supporting Sarawak’s future development through their knowledge, expertise and international exposure.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the Sarawak Government values the contributions of Sarawakians overseas and looks forward to strengthening engagement with them as the state advances its development agenda.
“As Sarawak moves forward, we look forward to closer engagement with Sarawakians around the world. Your knowledge, experience and international exposure can make valuable contributions to our development journey,” he said.
He said this when speaking at a gathering with the Sarawakian community in Hungary hosted by the Embassy of Malaysia in Budapest recently.
The gathering brought together members of the Sarawak Government delegation, officials from the Embassy of Malaysia in Budapest and Sarawakians residing in Hungary.
It was held in conjunction with the delegation’s official study mission to Hungary and Austria.
Meanwhile, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah noted that Sarawak is gaining increasing international recognition through its efforts in renewable energy, the hydrogen economy, sustainable development and economic transformation under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
He said Sarawakians abroad are helping to enhance the state’s reputation through their achievements and contributions in various fields.
“Each of you is a proud representative of Sarawak. Through your achievements and contributions, you help strengthen Sarawak’s reputation abroad,” he said.
The Sarawak Deputy Premier also commended the Sarawakian community in Hungary for maintaining a strong spirit of togetherness and supporting fellow Sarawakians arriving in the country to pursue their studies or careers.
On another matter, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah expressed appreciation to the Embassy of Malaysia in Budapest for its support in facilitating the Sarawak Government delegation’s programme and engagements throughout its official study mission.
He described the cooperation between the Embassy and the Sarawak Government as a reflection of the strong working relationship between the Federal and Sarawak governments in advancing Malaysia’s international presence.
Over the coming days, the delegation will engage with government agencies, city authorities, planning institutions and industry organisations in Hungary and Austria to exchange knowledge and best practices in areas such as smart city planning, border economic development, logistics connectivity, renewable energy and sustainable urban development.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah said the knowledge gained from the visit would contribute to the preparation of the Limbang-Lawas Local Plan 2035 and support the broader development of the Northern Growth Corridor.
“Our objective is simple. We are here to learn and to exchange ideas,” he said, adding that collaboration and knowledge-sharing are essential to developing innovative solutions and achieving sustainable growth for future generations. -UKASnews
