KUCHING: The Bintulu Transitioning Industrial Cluster (TIC), Malaysia’s first World Economic Forum (WEF) industrial transformation Initiative, will be officially launched during the Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition 2026 (APGH 2026) scheduled to take place in Kuching from 9 to 11 June.
The launch will mark a significant step in positioning Sarawak as the nation’s first industrial transition cluster under the WEF framework, while also supporting national development priorities under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (13MP), National 4IR Policy (N4IRP), Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MD2030), National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the Sarawak Energy Transition Policy (SET-P).
The initiative is spearheaded by MYCentre4IR in collaboration with WEF and in close partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESty).
“The TIC initiative provides a platform to accelerate industrial transformation through coordinated ecosystem collaboration,” a statement said on Friday.
APGH 2026 will gather governments, industry leaders, investors and technology providers from across Asia Pacific to accelerate the development and deployment of green hydrogen as a cornerstone of the region’s energy transition.
With global energy markets facing volatility and climate pressures intensifying, APGH 2026 is positioned as the platform where policy, capital, and projects converge to make green hydrogen commercially viable at scale.
In the same statement, MEESty Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said the world is at an inflection point, where energy markets and climate pressures are driving a return to solutions that are clean, secure, and sustainable.
“Green hydrogen is no longer a concept but a bridge to a net-zero future. Sarawak is ready, with renewable hydropower and the SCORE corridor enabling large-scale green hydrogen production.
“We are not waiting for the future; we are building it. APGH will be the platform where dialogue becomes bankable projects, where policy meets capital, and where hydrogen moves from potential to real impact, accelerating the energy transition together with government and industry partners,” he said.
Delegates to APGH 2026 will see Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg engaging in a fireside chat moderated by Nobuo Tanaka, alongside plenary and panel sessions covering the current energy landscape, green and sustainable initiatives, and business networking opportunities throughout the three-day programme.
The exhibition zone will be open to the public and will feature technology talks by exhibitors showcasing electrolysers, storage systems, transport solutions and downstream hydrogen applications in power, transport and heavy industry.
Meanwhile, the APGH 2026 Steering Committee also convened recently to finalise conference details and arrangements ahead of the event.
