Bau Gawai Parade Proof Of Ever-Strong Heritage & Unity
BAU: The Bau Gawai Parade 2026 is not merely a cultural parade event; instead, it serves as a symbol of the strength of unity among a multi-ethnic community and the commitment of today's generation to defending the cultural heritage that defines the identity of the Bau district.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Maritime) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the participation of the community, especially the youths, in the event proves the true spirit of the Bau people who always appreciate their culture and heritage.
“While around 800 participants took part in the previous year, this year the event successfully gathered approximately 1,800 participants involving 91 contingents as well as various parade floats that were more creative and lively.
“This increase is not just a number; rather, it shows that the community wants their culture and heritage to keep living, to be appreciated, and to be passed down to future generations,” he said when speaking at the event on Saturday.
According to the Tasik Biru Assemblyman, the celebration is not just a festival or entertainment, but carries a profound meaning related to gratitude, family, brotherhood, and appreciation for ancestral heritage.
