Sarawak & Ministry Of Digital Align On Historic Industrial Cluster Launch With WEF
KUALA LUMPUR: Senior officials from the Sarawak Government and the Federal Ministry of Digital convened today to finalise preparations for the upcoming launch of the Sarawak Transitioning Industrial Cluster (TIC), Malaysia's first industrial transition initiative under the World Economic Forum (WEF) framework.
According to a statement, the meeting brought together Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel and Minister of Digital Gobind Sign Deo to align on the programme and strategic objectives of the landmark event.
“The TIC Sarawak launch will be held on 11 June 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Sarawak, and will be organised jointly with the WEF, represented by WEF Managing Director Neo Gim Huay.
“Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah confirmed that the launching ceremony is expected to be graced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, alongside the Minister of Digital,” it said on Monday.
The statement noted that the event will also feature high-level panel discussions bringing together senior government leaders, industry players, investors, and strategic ecosystem partners from across the region.
Also present at today's preparatory meeting were Secretary General for Digital Datuk Fabian Bigar, and Chief Executive Officer of MyDIGITAL Corporation Adrian Marcellus.
The Sarawak TIC marks a significant milestone, the first of its kind in Malaysia under the WEF's global Transitioning Industrial Clusters initiative, positioning Sarawak as a regional hub for industrial transformation, decarbonisation, and clean energy adoption in alignment with both state and national priorities. -UKASnews
