Women's Involvement In Workforce Must Be Strengthened
MUKAH: Women's involvement in the workforce must continue to be strengthened in line with the rapid development of the digital economy and future technology.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that women's success in the field of employment not only helps increase family income, but also strengthens the nation’s social and economic stability.
"Women play a major role as a catalyst for the state's development and need to continue to be empowered so that they can progress in line with current economic changes," she said.
She said this during the closing ceremony of the Sarawak Women @ Work Mukah Division held at a hotel here, on Sunday.
According to Dato Sri Fatimah, various initiatives have been implemented by the Federal Government and the Sarawak Government including the development of women entrepreneurs, digital skills training, microcredit assistance and expanding access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) education and training.
The Dalat Assemblywoman said that the Sarawak Women @ Work programme is in line with the leadership direction of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, which places emphasis on the development of the digital economy, green economy, renewable energy and technological innovation.
Dato Sri Fatimah explained that the development of the sector opens up more opportunities for women to be involved in the future economy and technology.
She added that women are also encouraged to venture into future technology fields such as cybersecurity, engineering and drone technology to increase competitiveness in the job market. -UKASnews
