Betong Youth Academy Set To Become Skills Development Hub
BETONG: The proposed Betong Youth Academy project, spanning 17 acres near the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) Betong at Layar junction, is expected to emerge as a key hub for youth skills development in the Betong Division.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu said the academy would provide opportunities and facilities for youths to equip themselves with various high-impact skills.
“The Betong Youth Academy will provide opportunities and space for youths to acquire skills in areas such as careers in the oil and gas sector, professional drone operations and others.
“The academy will also include a hostel capable of accommodating 160 students, a synthetic football field and a running track,” he said.
He said this after attending the miring ceremony held in conjunction with the pre-groundbreaking event for the proposed Betong Youth Academy project on Wednesday.
Datuk Gerald said the academy would be developed by the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak through a RM30 million allocation under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA).
The Layar Assemblyman also called on residents to extend their cooperation and support to the developer throughout the construction period, which is expected to take two years.
He expressed hope that the project could commence in the near future and be completed according to schedule so that youths in the Betong area would be able to benefit from the facilities and opportunities provided. -UKASnews
