305 Homes In Pelawan Receive Repair Assistance Under MRP-PPRMS, RM4.5 Million Allocated
SIBU: A total of 305 houses in the Pelawan constituency received repair assistance under the Minor Rural Project-Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Programme (MRP-PPRMS).
Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee said the project involved a total allocation of RM4.5 million over the past four-and-a-half years.
“The main objective of this programme is to urgently address critical home repairs, where we focus on providing this service to low-income groups.
“In line with the Sarawak Government’s vision, I always prioritise efforts to reach out to families from this group,” he told reporters during a working visit to inspect the MRP-PPRMS initiative involving six houses here, on Thursday.
During the visit, he also spent time interacting with the homeowners.
Meanwhile, Datuk Michael revealed that there are still six months remaining under the implementation period, along with a balance allocation of RM500,000 yet to be utilised.
For the next phase, the Pelawan Assemblyman plans to adopt a more inclusive approach by considering assistance for registered Pelawan voters residing outside the constituency.
“Previously, we were instructed that the funds could only be spent within our respective constituencies.
“However, I believe I also have a responsibility to serve my registered voters who happen to live outside the constituency boundary but are still very much in need of this assistance,” he said. -UKASnews
