Daro New Town Extension Phase 2 Project To Become Daro's New Economic Catalyst
DARO: The Daro New Town Extension Phase 2 development project is expected to be fully completed in November 2026, subsequently becoming a new catalyst for socio-economic growth in the district.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the implementation of the project aims to establish a new hub for economic activities capable of stimulating local economic growth, empowering the entrepreneurship sector, and attracting more investments into Daro.
“The successful implementation of this project also completes the development of Phase 1, which has been completed and is now fully operational as part of the phased development planning in the area.
“Meanwhile, Phase 2 encompasses the construction of 20 units of two-storey shophouses, 10 units of two-storey mini shops, as well as 10 units of industrial cottages provided to meet the needs of local entrepreneurs,” he told reporters after inspecting the project site on Wednesday.
In addition, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah added that the project also involves the provision of supporting facilities such as public toilets, an electrical substation, open spaces, and parking areas to ensure comfort and smooth business operations.
He explained that the project is comprehensively planned to create a more conducive business environment while supporting continuous local economic growth.
In relation to that, he shared that the response towards the development has been highly encouraging, as all offered shophouse and mini shop units have received early bookings.
“This subsequently proves the massive potential of Daro as a new economic growth centre,” he added.
In the meantime, he expressed his appreciation to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) and all involved agencies for their commitment and cooperation in ensuring the project is executed according to the set plans for the benefit of the people and the comprehensive development of Daro. — UKASnews
