Daro Set To Emerge As New Growth Hub Through Comprehensive Development Master Plan
DARO: Daro is set to be developed through a comprehensive development master plan that will guide the future progression of the area, potentially positioning it as a new growth hub in the central region of Sarawak.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the master plan will take into account the views of the local community as well as inputs from relevant agencies. This ensures that development is carried out in a planned, sustainable manner and aligns with existing infrastructure facilities.
According to him, the execution of various development projects and the improvement of the infrastructure network in the district are expected to boost local economic activities and open up more opportunities for the people to elevate their standard of living.
“We see that Daro has massive potential to be continuously developed in a planned manner to ensure the benefits of development can be enjoyed by all residents.
“This master plan is crucial to ensure that Daro's development is implemented in a more organized way, meeting the needs of the community and unlocking the economic potential present in this area," he said.
He said this when officiating the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Daro Anjung Usahawan Project here on Wednesday.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah shared that among the proposals being given attention in the development plan is the construction of a dual-carriageway road in Daro, which is believed to be capable of strengthening connectivity networks and increasing the accessibility of the area.
He explained that better infrastructure facilities will act as a catalyst for local economic growth besides attracting more investments into the district.
"Infrastructure development not only eases the movement of the people, but also opens up opportunities for the more effective execution of various economic activities, including in the agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and small and medium enterprise (SME) sectors," he added.
In the meantime, he hopes that the facilities provided through the Daro Anjung Usahawan Project can be fully utilised by the local community to expand businesses and enhance the competitiveness of local entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, Daro Assemblyman Dr Safiee Ahmad stated that the RM6 million Daro Anjung Usahawan Project, which commenced in March 2026, is expected to be fully completed by December 2027.
According to him, Anjung Usahawan Daro will provide kiosk spaces to market local products in a more organised and competitive manner, besides being equipped with product processing facilities that can increase the value-add and quality of local entrepreneurs' outputs.
He added that the facility will also function as an entrepreneurship training and guidance centre, in addition to providing incubator spaces to help new entrepreneurs develop their businesses through systematic support, mentorship, and facilities.
At the same time, the project is expected to become an important platform to promote local products from Daro and its surrounding areas, thereby expanding market access for small and medium enterprises.
