MUDeNR's Innovation Takes Centre Stage At National Land Council Meeting
KUCHING: The innovation by the Sarawak Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development (MUDeNR), developed through the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention platform, became a focal point during the National Land Council meeting.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that this success has not only boosted the efficiency of government project and programme implementation but has also garnered various international, national, and state-level recognitions.
“Among the major successes resulting from KIK participation that have been adapted to improve service delivery is the implementation of the eSPA system and the ‘Same Day Registration’ initiative, which has achieved ISO certification.
In addition, several other interventions, such as monitoring systems for land surveying and land acquisition works, have also been successfully developed.
“All of these are fruits of the culture of innovation instilled through KIK. When I attended the National Land Council Meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, many were surprised to learn that Sarawak has successfully enhanced its service delivery to the point where land registration matters can be resolved within a single day,” he said.
He said this at the Closing Ceremony of the 2026 KIK Convention here on Thursday.
He further explained that this milestone has yet to be replicated by other states in Malaysia, making Sarawak the first to implement such an innovation.
In the meantime, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, who is also the Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Sarawak, highlighted the success of the SaraPeg innovation, developed by the Sarawak Land and Survey Department, as one of the most proud achievements.
“Another achievement that deserves recognition is SaraPeg, an innovation developed by the Sarawak Land and Survey Department.
“This marks the department's first innovation to successfully complete the entire KIK development cycle, spanning from initial ideation, product development, patent registration, and mass production, right up to the commercialisation stage,” he added.
He noted that the milestone proves that the creativity and commitment of civil servants are capable of driving major transformations in government service delivery, thereby solidifying Sarawak's position as a leader in public sector innovation in Malaysia.
