BETONG: The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, arrived in Betong on Saturday to attend a thanksgiving ceremony held in conjunction with the 2026 Sarawak-level celebration of the Official Birthday of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Upon arrival, they were received by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, Betong Member of Parliament Dato Dr Richard Rapu, and Betong Division Resident Datu Richard Michael Abunawas.

The thanksgiving ceremony is scheduled to take place at Masjid Jamek Betong this evening and is expected to bring together community leaders and local residents in a spirit of gratitude and togetherness.

The following day, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi is scheduled to officiate at a tea reception at Dewan Sukan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan, one of the main events of this year’s Sarawak-level celebration.

His presence in Betong marks the commencement of the official programme for the celebration, which will place the division in the spotlight throughout the two-day event. -UKASnews
