RM563,000 Channelled To 27 Daro Entrepreneurs, Strengthening Rural Economy
DARO: Efforts to empower the rural economy continue to be intensified through the distribution of assistance amounting to RM563,000 to 27 local entrepreneurs in Daro, reflecting a continuous commitment to developing the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector.
The distribution of the assistance was carried out in conjunction with the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Daro Anjung Usahawan Project and officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier, who is also the Sarawak Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
In his speech, he emphasised that MSMEs are the backbone of the state's economic growth and play a vital role in creating job opportunities, strengthening community development, and stimulating the local economy.
“With these facilities in place, entrepreneurs will have a better platform to expand their businesses and enhance their competitiveness in the market,” he said when speaking at the event on Wednesday.
He added that Daro's increasingly strategic location — driven by the development of road infrastructure and bridge networks connecting coastal areas with the state's main economic hubs — will serve as a catalyst for more rapid economic growth.
Regarding the assistance, it encompasses four main entrepreneurial development programmes under the ministry, namely the Graduates Towards Entrepreneurship Programme (GERAK), the TVET Entrepreneurs Programme (USTEV), the Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme (SKMS), and the GoDigital Programme.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah explained that these initiatives aim to reinforce the competitiveness of entrepreneurs through financing support, business digitalisation, capacity building, as well as encouraging the involvement of youth and graduates in the field of entrepreneurship.
This comprehensive approach, he noted, aligns with the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which emphasises nurturing resilient, innovative entrepreneurs capable of competing in the future economy. — UKASnews
