Sarawak Day 2026 Townhall In Sibu Expected To Draw 1,000 Participants
SIBU: The townhall programme in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration, scheduled to be held on 22 July in Sibu, is expected to attract around 1,000 participants comprising locals and residents from surrounding areas.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said the programme serves as an important platform to strengthen two-way communication between the government and the people, while providing updates on Sarawak’s development and future direction.
According to him, the success of the programme depends on close cooperation among members of the organising committee to ensure all plans are implemented smoothly and effectively.
Datuk Abdullah, who is also the Deputy Minister responsible for the Sarawak Day 2026 Townhall, expressed hope that participation from the local community would be further enhanced through the involvement of people from various age groups and backgrounds, ensuring the programme remains inclusive and achieves its intended objectives.
Carrying the theme ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’ (a progressive and prosperous Sarawak), the townhall is expected to be graced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at the Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor Hall, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).
The matter was disclosed during the Sarawak Day 2026 Townhall Organising Committee Meeting No.1/2026, held at UTS on Monday.
The meeting also discussed various aspects of preparation including logistics, participant management, publicity and coordination of responsibilities among the agencies involved to ensure the successful implementation of the townhall and the achievement of its objectives. -UKASnews
