Sarawak Strengthens Global Cooperation In Green Technology & Utility Sustainability
SINGAPORE: Sarawak continues to strengthen international cooperation in the field of utility, green technology and sustainability through an official working visit to Singapore that focused on sustainable infrastructure development, water management and the exploration of modern utility technology to support the state's sustainable development agenda.
Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said the visit served as an important platform to strengthen bilateral relations as well as explore opportunities for strategic cooperation that could improve utility management efficiency and infrastructure resilience in Sarawak.
He began the official programme by paying a courtesy call on Singapore Minister for Sustainability and the Environment who is also Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu.
The meeting worked as a platform for both parties to exchange views on strategies to strengthen utility resilience, particularly in the water and energy sectors, in addition to discussing approaches towards achieving long-term environmental sustainability goals.
Earlier, Dato Sri Julaihi and his delegation held a technical visit to the Sustainable Tropical Data Center Testbed (STDCT), a joint research facility led by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
STDCT explores the development of energy-efficient liquid and hybrid cooling systems to reduce energy and water consumption in data centre operations operating in hot and humid tropical climates.
The technology developed at the centre is anticipated to have the potential to support Sarawak's efforts in expanding the use of green technology as well as improving the efficiency of managing the state's utility and digital infrastructure.
Also accompanying him were Acting Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak Ir George Lee, Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Sarawak Quality Manager Ir Ts Tie Tung Ing and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd Malseni Jamal.
Meanwhile, Dato Sri Julaihi is scheduled to deliver his keynote speech at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2026 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre on 16 June.
Immediately after, he will inaugurate the Sarawak Pavilion which will showcase the state's progress and achievements in utility management to delegates and international visitors during the SIWW 2026 which runs from 16 to 18 June. -UKASnews
