RWMF Proposes Special Discounts For Senior Citizens In Conjunction With 30th Edition Next Year
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government is considering a proposal to offer special discounts to senior citizens in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) next year, as a token of appreciation for their continuous support toward the festival.
Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the proposal is among the initiatives being examined in conjunction with the three-decade celebration of RWMF's organisation in 2027.
“Next year marks the 30th anniversary of RWMF, and we are considering several innovations, including a proposal to offer special discounts to senior citizens as a token of appreciation to those who have continuously supported this festival for a long time,” he said.
He said this during a press conference in conjunction with the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2026 at the Sarawak Cultural Village on Friday.
He added that the proposal aims to make RWMF more inclusive by opening up opportunities for more segments of society, particularly senior citizens, to enjoy the international-class music festival.
He noted that the state government is also looking into several other innovations to ensure RWMF remains relevant, competitive, and capable of attracting more local and international visitors.
He is confident that the 30th anniversary celebration of RWMF next year will be another milestone in the history of the festival's organization, thereby reinforcing Sarawak's position as a premier cultural tourism destination in this region. — UKASnews
