Sibu Division SKS Programme Targets Over 30,000 Visitors Spanning Three Days
SIBU: The Sibu Division Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 programme aims to attract more than 30,000 visitors during its three-day duration from 10 to 12 July.
Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the target was believed to be achievable based on Sibu's strategic position which is easily accessible from various parts of Sarawak.
According to him, Sibu's location in the centre of the state allowed for people from Mukah, Kapit, Kanowit, Sarikei, Bintulu and the surrounding areas to visit to access various government services provided in one stop.
"We expect more than 30,000 visitors to attend during the Sibu Division SKS. I would like to invite people in Sibu and nearby areas to come together and see for themselves the various services provided by the government," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after officiating the pre-launch of the Sibu Division SKS 2026 programme at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang, on Friday.
Accompanying him were Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation) Datu Hii Chang Kee, Sibu Resident Superi Awang Said and heads of departments.
Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar added that the achievements of the Kapit Division SKS which successfully attracted about 38,000 visitors previously provided confidence that the programme held in Sibu could potentially record a higher attendance.
"Compared to Kapit, Sibu has an advantage in terms of road access and a more strategic position. That's why I believe the number of visitors here is likely to be higher," he said.
He explained that the organisation of SKS continues to serve as an important platform to bring government services closer to the people in addition to giving the community the opportunity to obtain information and resolve various matters under one roof. -UKASnews
