QR Code Facilitates Access To Government Services, Evidence Of Increased Digital Awareness
SIBU: Community awareness to utilise the government's digital services continues to show an increase as the use of Quick Response (QR) codes now acts as one of the main mediums for obtaining various information and on government service matters.
Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the change proved that the people were more willing to accept digitisation in the delivery of public services compared to the manual approach practiced before.
According to him, the use of QR Codes allows the public to obtain information, submit applications and check the status of applications more easily, quickly and efficiently.
"We see the public's awareness of the use of digital services increasing. If in the past most government affairs were done manually, now many people use QR Codes to obtain information and access various government services," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after officiating the pre-launch of the Sibu Division Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) programme 2026 at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang on Friday.
However, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar emphasised that digital transformation does not mean eliminating face-to-face interaction because the human touch is still crucial in ensuring that the people receive complete information and friendly treatment.
"Even though we provide services digitally, a face-to-face approach is still needed so that the people get clearer information and receive better quality services," he said.
He explained that the balance between digitisation and direct interaction will continue to be the focus of the Sarawak Government in strengthening the public service delivery system that is more efficient, inclusive and people-friendly.
Accompanying him were Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation) Datu Hii Chang Kee, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Sibu Division Resident Superi Awang Said and heads of departments. -UKASnews
