Sarawak & Slovakia Explore New Economic Cooperation Potential
KUCHING: Sarawak and the Slovak Republic anticipate potentially exploring cooperation in new economic sectors, particularly renewable energy, investment, technology, education and tourism.
This matter was discussed in the courtesy visit of the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Malaysia Peter Spisiak to the Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, which took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere in the Astana Negeri Sarawak on Monday.
In the meeting, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi shared Sarawak's development progress as well as the state's efforts to diversify its economic base through new sectors, including renewable energy in addition to the oil and gas industry.
Both parties also exchanged views on trade, investment, education, technology, tourism and culture as areas that have the potential to expand relations between Sarawak and the Slovak Republic.
In addition, aspects of Borneo's history were also discussed, with Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi emphasising the importance of research based on local sources and perspectives to form a more accurate and comprehensive historical narrative.
