BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, arrived in Brunei Darussalam at 4.54 pm on Friday to join the Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Working Visit on 21 and 22 August.
He was welcomed by Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, together with the Sarawak delegation upon his arrival here.
The Sarawak Premier is among the leaders accompanying the Prime Minister to the 27th Annual Leaders' Consultation (ALC-27) between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam with the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, at Istana Nurul Iman on Saturday.
Also accompanying the Prime Minister are the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato' Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan; as well as several other ministers and senior government officials.
The visit is also expected to focus on Sarawak's interests, particularly in exploring potential cooperation with Brunei in the energy, renewable energy, economic, agriculture and tourism sectors.
In the energy sector, Sarawak-Brunei cooperation continues to grow through the efforts of Sarawak Energy and Brunei's Department of Electrical Services on the Tudan-Lumut Interconnection (SPARK) project.
Trade and tourism ties have also been strengthened through the establishment of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office in Brunei (STATOB) in October 2024.
ALC-27 serves as the highest platform for bilateral consultations between Malaysia and Brunei to discuss the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries, including areas of mutual interest. -UKASnews
