RM12,000 Boost For Nanga Ban Women's Bureau & JKKK Activities
BETONG: The Women's Bureau and Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Panjang Nanga Ban received a funding boost of RM12,000 to support the implementation of annual activities and strengthen local community development.
The presentation of cheques and fund allocations was announced at the 'Pengerami Merarau Serakup Indu' (Women's Bureau) and JKKK Rumah Morris Nanga Ban, Betong 2026 ceremony, officiated by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, who is also Layar Assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, at Rumah Panjang Nanga Ban, here, on Saturday.
Of the total amount, Datuk Gerald presented a Minor Rural Project (MRP) cheque worth RM4,000 to the Nanga Ban Women's Bureau, and announced an additional allocation of RM3,000 to JKKK Nanga Ban.
Meanwhile, Betong Member of Parliament Dato Dr Richard Rapu also announced an allocation of RM5,000 to the Nanga Ban Longhouse Women's Bureau.
The contributions serve as a sign of support and appreciation for the community's efforts, particularly the collaboration between the Women's Bureau and JKKK Nanga Ban in organising community programmes such as Pengerami Merarau, as well as various other activities for longhouse residents.
The allocations are also seen as helping to strengthen the role of the Women's Bureau and JKKK as a link between longhouse residents and government agencies and elected representatives, besides supporting the implementation of programmes that benefit the community.
Dato Dr Richard Rapu also congratulated the Nanga Ban Women's Bureau for their commitment and active involvement since its establishment.
He also called on the Women's Bureau to continue playing its role in empowering women and contributing to the improvement of the local community's wellbeing.
The ceremony was attended by Pemanca of the Betong District Iban Community Norman Ngumbang, Penghulu of the Layar Tengah area Stanley Ejau Erin, Head of St. Augustine Church Betong Father Rentap Nuang, Tuai Rumah of Nanga Ban Morris Ketit, and Chairperson of the Nanga Ban Women's Bureau Lily Mindar Mandi. -UKASnews
