Health Must Be Prioritised, An Important Foundation For Community Development
PAKAN: Health must be prioritised as a healthy society forms an important foundation in supporting community development and wellbeing.
Advisor in the Sarawak Premier Office (Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development) Tan Sri Datuk Sri William Mawan Ikom said good health enables the community to continue contributing actively to various aspects of development.
He also recorded his appreciation to healthcare frontliners who consistently provide their service and commitment in ensuring the wellbeing of the community, particularly in rural areas.
"Health is a very important matter for people. Through good health, we can contribute to various aspects of development.
"Therefore, I hope more activities like this can be carried out to raise public awareness on the importance of health care," he said.
He said this while speaking at the Women's Health Awareness Campaign and Health Screening Programme, organised by the Pakan Health Clinic Advisory Panel, at Rumah Janting, Jalan Wak Enturong Lemujan, Pakan, on Saturday.
He said programmes focusing on awareness, prevention and early screening are very important as they help the community take appropriate action regarding their respective health conditions.
In this regard, he expressed his readiness to continue helping and supporting health programmes that bring significant impact to the community.
In a related development, he announced an allocation of RM10,000 to the Pakan Health Advisory Panel to support the implementation of activities and efforts to raise health awareness among the local community.
Also announced was an allocation of RM100,000 to Rumah Panjang Janting for the purpose of cementing the longhouse compound.
In addition, the Pakan Health Clinic also received an allocation of RM10,000, while a sum from the Pakan DUN Rural Transformation Project (RTP) was also channelled to support the local community's development and wellbeing needs.
He hoped continued support from all parties could strengthen efforts to raise health awareness, particularly among rural communities.
He said close cooperation between healthcare workers, community leaders and the community is crucial to ensure the health care agenda can be carried out continuously and benefit the people. -UKASnews
