Sarawak, MITI Deepen Partnership To Drive Investment , Industrial Growth
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak Government has strengthened its engagement with the Federal Government on investment, trade and industrial development, according to a statement from the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) on Monday.
The engagement took place during a courtesy call by Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan on Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Secretary-General Datuk Hairil Yahri Yaacob was also present.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah was accompanied by MINTRED Advisor Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, MINTRED Permanent Secretary Datu Lester Matthew and senior ministry officials.
MINTRED said the meeting focused on strengthening Federal-State collaboration to attract quality, high-value investments, enhance industrial competitiveness and support Sarawak's long-term economic development.
Sarawak's proposals for consideration under Budget 2027 were also discussed, particularly on investment incentives, strategic industries and industrial infrastructure.
Both sides also explored opportunities to further develop high-value and emerging industries, including advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, the digital economy and clean energy, as well as other downstream and technology-driven activities.
The statement added that the meeting underscored the need for the right incentives, infrastructure, talent and investment ecosystem to support new investments and the expansion of existing industries.
It said Sarawak's priorities are aligned with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and Malaysia's broader industrial and investment agenda, with emphasis on creating quality jobs, developing local talent, strengthening local businesses and promoting technology and innovation.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation between the Sarawak and Federal Governments to facilitate strategic investments, enhance industrial development and create greater economic opportunities for Sarawak and Malaysia, according to MINTRED. -UKASnews
