SJK(C) Chung Hua Krokop Marks 80 Years, Upholding Tradition Amid Technological Progress
MIRI: The 80th anniversary celebration of SJK(C) Chung Hua Krokop reflects the continuity of Chinese education traditions, which continue to be strengthened through the adoption of modern technology and innovation to face future challenges.
Sarawak Minister of Transport and Senadin Assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the institution must continue to preserve its values and culture while adapting to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) innovation, coding and smart technology.
He said the 80th anniversary is not merely a time to reflect on history, but also a new starting point in strengthening an education system that is relevant to current needs.
"Developments in STEM, innovation and the use of smart technology prove that this school continues to move in step with changing times," he said when speaking at the SJK(C) Chung Hua Krokop 80th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at Imperial Hotel Miri on Sunday.
He added that in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, students must not only excel academically but also possess thinking, problem-solving, communication and adaptability skills.
"Technology and AI can help, but they cannot replace human values, creativity and responsibility," he said.
Lee also expressed appreciation to the school management, teachers, parents, alumni and the community for their continued contributions to the school's development over the past eight decades.
He also stressed the Sarawak Government's commitment to strengthening education by expanding access to higher education and providing educational assistance to ease the burden on families.
Meanwhile, SJK(C) Chung Hua Krokop headmistress Peggy Tang said the celebration serves as a starting point to continue developing education that keeps pace with technological advancements.
She said students should be nurtured not only as users of technology, but also as creators and innovators in fields such as AI, robotics and automation.
She also highlighted the school team's achievement as first runner-up in the Robomission Pro (Primary School) category, which qualified them to represent Malaysia at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) World Final.
The anniversary celebration reflects the ability of SJK(C) Chung Hua Krokop to preserve its educational identity while producing a knowledgeable, skilled generation prepared for the future. -UKASnews
