New DUBS Complex Must Reflect Quality Of Bumiputera Entrepreneurs
KUCHING: The new Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) building at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee must reflect the organisation’s quality and role in empowering local Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the building should not just serve as a premise for DUBS’ operations but must also project the image, quality and business sectors in which the organisation is involved in.
"That is why I advised (DUBS President) Datu Helmi to develop a fine and impressive building that reflects the quality of DUBS.
“The Sarawak Government is providing assistance for you to have the building near the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
“That is your building, one that reflects your quality and the businesses you are involved in,” he said.
He said when speaking at the DUBS Gala Dinner held at a leading hotel here on Sunday.
Construction of the complex began in November last year and is expected to be completed by November 2026.
The two-block, seven-storey complex is being developed at a cost of RM90 million, of which RM80.23 million is funded through a grant from the Sarawak Government.
Upon completion, the complex will house 87 commercial office units, the DUBS corporate office, a multi-purpose resource centre and 11 retail outlets on the ground floor.
Also present were Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Deputy Ministers, DUBS President Datu Abang Helmi Tan Sri Ikhwan as well as other dignitaries. -UKASnews
