Efficient Administration Key To Driving Investment & Development In Sarawak
KUCHING: Administrative efficiency and swift decision-making in the civil service are crucial to strengthen investor confidence, accelerating development and safeguarding the interests of the people.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg stressed that civil servants must have the confidence to make decisions within their respective authority, guided by integrity, transparency and accountability.
"In a fast-changing environment, speed in decision-making matters. Delays can affect investment, development, businesses and the lives of our people.
"I want officers to have the confidence to make decisions within their authority, guided by integrity, transparency and accountability," he said when delivering his address at the Civil Service Day (HPA) celebration and SCSICA Awards 2026 here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, he emphasised that an agile and responsive administration must go hand in hand with sound governance to ensure decisions are implemented effectively and deliver tangible benefits to the people.
He said this approach is also essential to accelerate the implementation of state policies and development initiatives, supporting Sarawak's aspirations to achieve its development targets by 2030.
"Be agile. Be decisive. Be accountable. Above all, deliver.
"That is the standard we must set for ourselves to meet the demands of the future," he stressed. -UKASnews
