GPS Ready For State Election, Component Party Machinery Being Organised
KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is ready to face the upcoming state election, with the machinery of each component party already being organised and on standby.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof said elections were a democratic process that gave the people the mandate to decide the government that would administer Sarawak for the next five years.
He said the party's preparations did not begin only ahead of the election, but had been carried out continuously since the previous polls.
"Actually, we work all the time. Since the last election, we have started working.
"So this is just a democratic process where we have to hold an election, and our machinery is already on standby," he told reporters after the launch of the Sarawak Police Contingent futsal court on Saturday.
Datuk Amar Fadillah said the machinery of each GPS component party was also working closely to ensure all preparations, including coordination of activities and logistics, were carried out in an orderly manner.
Commenting on the 14-day campaign period set for the election, he said GPS respected the decision of the Election Commission (EC) and was prepared to adjust its activities according to the stipulated period. -UKASnews
