RM800,000 Futsal Court For Sarawak Police Contingent
KUCHING: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sarawak Contingent's futsal court, built with an allocation of RM800,000, is expected to become an important platform for strengthening physical fitness and teamwork among security personnel.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof said the preparedness of security personnel must be continuously enhanced to ensure they could carry out their responsibility of safeguarding the safety and well-being of the people more effectively.
"Futsal is not only one way for us to improve physical fitness, but it actually builds teamwork," he said at the launch of the court on Saturday.
Datuk Amar Fadillah said security forces were now facing increasingly complex challenges arising from technological developments, including changes in the modus operandi of smuggling, drug trafficking and online gambling.
He said efforts to strengthen the capabilities and skills of personnel must therefore be carried out continuously, alongside closer cooperation between security agencies and the public in curbing criminal activities.
He hoped the futsal court would be fully utilised, not only for sports and recreation, but also as a space to strengthen ties among members of the PDRM Sarawak Contingent.
Construction of the court began on 11 February, 2025, and was fully completed on 10 October the same year.
Also present at the ceremony was Sarawak Police Commissioner Saifullizan Ishak. -UKASnews
