Age, Skills Among Factors In GPS Candidate Selection
MIRI: Age, skills and performance are among the criteria being considered by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in determining its line-up of candidates for the 13th Sarawak State Election (PRN13).
Sarawak Premier and GPS Chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the candidate evaluation process also takes into account feedback as well as the growing number of young people in society.
"Usually, we will look at not only performance, but also feedback. And because of the increase in young people, we need to take that into consideration in terms of skills and also age level," he said.
He said this to reporters after officiating the Orang Ulu Cultural Centre of the Federation of Orang Ulu Associations Sarawak Malaysia (FORUM) on Saturday.
According to him, the changing age composition of society is among the factors that must be taken into consideration in the candidate selection process.
The assessment is part of GPS's considerations in determining its line-up of candidates for the Sarawak state election, which is scheduled to be held on 12 December.
