MIRI: The Sarawak Youth StartUp (SYStartUp) Cohort 2 2025 programme concluded on Saturday with a strong message on youth empowerment and entrepreneurial readiness.
Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, said the programme continues to reflect the State Government’s commitment to developing competitive young entrepreneurs.
He noted that Cohort 2 received 393 applications, of which 150 participants were selected after screening and online interviews conducted with agencies including MINTRED, EPU, SFS and SEDC.
Over eight days, participants underwent intensive training covering financial management, branding, marketing, certification, product verification, and business model development, followed by group business pitching sessions involving 19 teams.
Datuk Dr Ripin acknowledged that improvements would be made in future editions and welcomed feedback from participants to strengthen the programme.
He said each participant received an ID card with QR access to programme schedules, adding that progress monitoring will begin in January 2026.
“You are the chosen ones of this cohort. Success requires effort, resilience and the right mindset. Don’t rush the process but trust the process,” he reminded the youths.
He also thanked facilitators, speakers, MYSED staff and strategic partners for ensuring the success of Cohort 2. -UKASnews
