New Subis District Office Strengthens Local Governance
BEKENU: The establishment of the new Subis District Office in Kampung Rambai marks another step forward in strengthening administrative efficiency and public service delivery in the district, said Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Administration), Datu Buckland Bangik during his working visit on Friday.
Arriving at 3.00 pm, he was received by Bujang Rahman Seli, representing the Miri Resident, and Subis District Officer, Norlila Ulis, before being taken on a full walkthrough of the building, which began operations on 3 November 2025.
The visit covered all blocks and office spaces to assess overall readiness and workflow arrangements.
During the session, Datu Buckland underscored the importance of civil servants fully understanding the objectives of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the policies of the Sarawak Government.
He reminded officers that every project in their locality is tied to a specific implementing agency, and that they must be aware of these responsibilities to ensure smooth execution.
He also called on public officers to uphold strong teamwork, avoid complacency and maintain the integrity of the state civil service.
Individual commitment, he said, is essential to sustaining high-quality government service delivery.
Datu Buckland further emphasised that the District Officer holds full authority to determine office requirements for the new premises, including submitting requests to the Administrative Unit or the Public Service Digitalisation Unit when necessary.
Also present were Public Service Digitalisation Unit Director, Datu Grace Huong Siew Hung, Administrative Unit Director, Rusmaliza Mat Darus, Miri Deputy Resident, Bujang Rahman Seli, and Subis District Officer, Norlila Ulis. -UKASnews
