However, behind the excitement of enjoying this new facility, the community is reminded that the cleanliness of the bridge area must always be maintained so that its beauty and comfort can be preserved.

Litter thrown indiscriminately not only spoils the view but can also tarnish the image of a public facility built for the benefit of the people.

Users are reminded to always practice a responsible attitude by disposing of trash in the proper places as well as taking care of the facilities provided.

The 4.844-kilometre-long Batang Lupar 1 Bridge, which was opened to users last May 21, is the longest bridge crossing a river in Malaysia.

Built at a cost of RM848.7 million using Sarawak Government funds, the bridge forms part of the efforts to improve the connectivity network in the state's coastal areas.

As Sarawak's new landmark, the Batang Lupar 1 Bridge must not only be appreciated for the benefits it brings, but also collectively preserved to ensure it remains clean, comfortable, and a source of pride to be enjoyed by future generations. — UKASnews
