Sarawak Secures RM105.9 Billion In Investments Between 2021-2025
KUCHING: Sarawak has successfully attracted RM105.9 billion in investments from 2021 up to the third quarter of 2025, despite navigating a challenging global economic landscape.
Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh said the total comprises RM68.4 billion (64.5 per cent) in domestic investment and RM37.5 billion (35.5 per cent) in foreign investment.
“The approved investments fall under three main sectors, namely RM47.3 billion in the primary sector, RM31.3 billion in the manufacturing sector, and RM27.3 billion in the services sector.
“These investments have created more than 25,000 potential job opportunities, including over 21,000 within the manufacturing sector,” he said during the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting on Monday.
Over this period, he explained, investment in the manufacturing sector has mainly centred on the Electrical and Electronics (E&E) industry as well as the chemical industry.
The Batang Ai Assemblyman added that Sarawak’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has shown steady growth, rising from RM131.6 billion in 2021 to RM148.2 billion in 2024.
He noted that the manufacturing sector, as the second-largest contributor to the economy, recorded fluctuating growth, reaching its peak in 2022 with RM39.2 billion before moderating and recovering slightly to RM38.2 billion in 2024. -UKASnews
