KUCHING: The Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) has passed the Supply (2026) Bill, 2025 on the final day of the Third Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 19th DUN Sitting.
The approval was announced by Sarawak DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar on Wednesday, following the third reading of the Bill by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
Earlier, the Sarawak Premier, who also serves as the Minister for Finance and New Economy, tabled the Bill on 24 November, and it was supported by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
During the tabling of the Bill, the Sarawak Premier explained that the 2026 Sarawak Budget proposes a total Ordinary Expenditure of RM12.9 billion.
Of the total Ordinary Expenditure, RM5.6 billion is allocated for Operating Expenditure, while RM7.3 billion is for appropriation to the Development Fund Account.
He said the 2026 Sarawak Budget projects an estimated surplus of RM144 million, supported by projected revenue of RM13.05 billion against a total Ordinary Expenditure of RM12.91 billion.
The RM5.6 billion Operating Expenditure includes RM1.4 billion for staff emoluments, RM2.2 billion for supplies and services, and RM1.8 billion for grants and fixed payments including management grants to statutory bodies and local authorities, as well as debt servicing, gratuities, pensions, scholarships, and welfare assistance.
In addition, RM99 million will be allocated for asset acquisition, while another RM150 million is set aside for other operating expenses. -UKASnews
