GEDONG: The Samarahan-level Program Randau Solidariti Komuniti (PRSK) 2025 brought a full day of community activities, dialogues and outreach services to Rumah Suni anak Liam, Kampung Keniong Jaya, drawing strong participation from residents across the area.
The programme was officiated by Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Rodiyah Sapiee, who commended the initiative for creating meaningful avenues for interaction between the government and the rural community.
She said the combination of activities under PRSK, including the Mini Solidariti Town Hall, Solidariti Community Sports and the Solidariti Night, had strengthened local unity while enabling residents to voice their views and aspirations directly.
“I highly commend the organisation of PRSK. The range of activities encourages interaction, exchange of ideas and community empowerment as we work together to realise the agenda of a Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak,” she said.
Rodiyah emphasised her commitment to the Premier of Sarawak’s call to ensure that no one is left behind in the state’s development, particularly rural communities in Gedong and beyond.
She reiterated that Sarawak’s development pathway towards 2030 prioritises inclusive, balanced and people-centred progress.
PRSK, implemented through the Social Development Council under the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK), in collaboration with the Samarahan Resident’s Office and Gedong District Office, aims to deliver accurate information on social issues, government services, assistance, and initiatives to rural communities through a holistic outreach approach.
Throughout the programme, residents participated in briefings and knowledge-sharing sessions by various agencies and NGOs, alongside service exhibitions, government assistance counters, health screenings and the Jualan Rahmah Madani mobile sales initiative.
During the event, Rodiyah also handed over 10 units of fire extinguishers to the Tuai Rumah of Kampung Keniong Jaya as a proactive measure to enhance village safety.
She further highlighted upcoming rural infrastructure improvements, announcing that communities in the Ulu Gedong Zone will benefit from a new 26-kilometre access road connecting Kampung Semalatong to Kampung Gedong, expected to shorten travel time to approximately 25 minutes.
“This is part of the Premier’s development planning which proves that rural communities are not overlooked. The project will bring significant economic impact, especially in agriculture and tourism,” she said.
