Government Mobilises Aid For Subis Following Road Disruption
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government has stepped up assistance to residents in Subis after heavy rain and pink tide conditions caused road access to be cut off earlier this week.
Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam, said the situation has affected several areas along the river, including communities near the pipeline zone.
Speaking when met by reporters after the OKU Day 2025 celebration, he described the latest flooding as one of the more challenging incidents recorded this year.
“This week, we have experienced heavy rain and pink tide for certain areas along the river. This time, it was quite bad,” he said.
He added that Sarawak Community Welfare Department (JKMS), in coordination with the Subis District Office, has mobilised immediate assistance to ensure essential supplies reach affected families.
“Our action through JKMS has provided drinking water and water tankers to the affected areas because the road in Subis was cut off,” he said.
Datuk Mohamad Razi added that aid operations have been ongoing for three days, with teams continuing to monitor the situation and expedite support to residents. -UKASnews
