SCaT Fair Offers More Than 1,900 Job Opportunities For Sarawakians
KUCHING: More than 1,900 job opportunities were offered through the Sarawak Career and Training (SCaT) Fair, underscoring the programme's role as an important platform in connecting job seekers with current industry demands.
Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, said the success of the SCaT Fair should not only be measured by the number of visitors attending the event, but also by the direct impact it has on the people, particularly youths and job seekers.
“I have been informed that more than 1,900 job opportunities were offered throughout the programme, covering various sectors such as construction, manufacturing, services, oil and gas, as well as technical industries,” he said.
He said this when delivering his speech at the closing ceremony of the SCaT Fair 2026 at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) here on Sunday.
Datuk Dr Jerip added that, apart from employment opportunities, visitors were also able to obtain information on scholarships, educational pathways, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), skills development programmes and industrial training opportunities directly from educational institutions and relevant agencies.
He said programmes such as the SCaT Fair play an important role in enhancing youth employability and ensuring that Sarawakian youths are better prepared to meet the demands of future industries.
In this regard, he encouraged young people, including students, Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) school leavers, graduates and job seekers, to be willing to explore new opportunities and step outside their comfort zones in order to seize the opportunities available. -UKASnews
