Rural Welfare, Connectivity Remain State Priorities In Ngemah
KANOWIT: The Sarawak Government’s commitment to strengthening rural welfare and grassroots development was reaffirmed at the closing ceremony of the Komuniti Rakyat MADANI Programme (PKRM) for KRT Nanga Tada Zone 1 at Rumah Kubu here on Sunday.
Ngemah Assemblyman Anyi Jana said key infrastructure and community initiatives continue to be prioritised to improve the quality of life in rural areas, including better connectivity and socio-economic support.
He announced that the long-awaited Sedaya Ferry is expected to commence operations before Christmas, which will significantly ease transportation and support local economic activities.
“We expect the Sedaya Ferry to operate before Christmas, and this will bring great convenience to the people here,” he said.
Anyi also said the Sarawak Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for Community Leaders and Headmen (KMKK) to RM400 as recognition of their role at the grassroots, following a decision at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly.
On development matters, he said a Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project to cement the compound of Rumah Kubu has been proposed for 2026, while the Projek Rumah Miskin Rakyat Sarawak (PPRMS) will continue to assist low-income families.
At the event, Anyi announced Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants of RM3,000 for KRT Nanga Tada Zone 1 and RM5,000 for JKKK Rumah Kubu to support community activities. -UKASnews
